Al-Arab, Al-Watan Commend Efforts Aimed at Providing Job Opportunities for Qatari Graduates
Doha, February 17 (QNA) - In their editorials on Thursday, Al-Arab and Al-Watan newspapers commended the efforts of the State of Qatar to provide sufficient job opportunities for all Qatari graduates.
The two papers encouraged the step taken by the Civil Service and Governmental Development Bureau, by launching a new initiative, in cooperation with various government agencies, entitled "rapid recruitment campaign" to facilitate the process of interviewing job seekers candidates for work in government agencies, in addition to follow-up on the status of applications through the National E-Recruitment Portal (Kawader) and take the necessary action in coordination with the concerned authorities, to accelerate the process of hiring Qataris in the government sector.
Al-Arab said in its editorial that to ensure protecting the rights of all citizens in their homes, jobs and their surroundings, as well as enhance the physical and mental well-being of individuals, especially young people, the Civil Service and Governmental Development Bureau launched a new initiative, in cooperation with various government agencies, entitled "rapid recruitment campaign" to facilitate the process of interviewing job seekers candidates for work in government agencies.
The paper stressed that the initiative comes as part of the efforts to accelerate the process of hiring Qataris in the government sector, as the National Human Resources Development Department at the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau continues its efforts in continuous coordination to organize job interviews for job seekers while training them on CV preparation skills and passing job interviews, in addition to follow-up on the status of applications through Kawader and take the necessary action in coordination with the concerned authorities.
The paper pointed out that the initiative works as a benefit for the issues faced by the youth, as it develops mechanisms and strategies that seek to enhance their active participation in the development process and the comprehensive renaissance in the country, by developing comprehensive solutions to the problems of education and employment.
Al-Arab concluded its editorial by emphasizing that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education needs to develop its strategies, to link education outputs with the needs of the labor market, explaining that the labor market needs to develop vocational and technical education to support young people and invest in their creative energies.
For its part, Al-Watan newspaper hailed in its editorial Thursday the estimated efforts made by the Ministry of Labour in qualifying national cadres, including holding training courses for job seekers in private sector institutions and companies as part of its program aimed at Qatarization jobs in the private sector.
The newspaper pointed out that holding these training courses also comes within the efforts of the Ministry to provide the necessary training to develop their skills to increase the chances of their involvement in the labor market with local private sector institutions and companies, as well as within the framework of the first phase of the program for Qatarization of jobs in the private sector that was announced recently, given that Qatarization of jobs is one of the main priorities of the Ministry, with the aim of benefiting from the national workforce and opening new horizons in major private sector companies.
Al-Watan said that training courses were attended by about 86 applicants and those wishing to work in the private sector through the national employment platform Kawader and covered many skills and basics that will develop and qualify national cadres.
The Ministry noted that it is constantly consulting with private sector institutions to increase the percentage of Qatarization of jobs through qualifying and training national cadres, in addition to knowing the local market's need for the private sector of national cadres, the newspaper added.
The paper considered that the privileges enjoyed by the private sector are more than the privileges of the public sector because the companies covered are not just private companies or family companies, but companies owned or contributed to by the State and are subject to the law of retirement and pensions, and these companies have privileges that sometimes exceed the government sector, as salaries are close to those of the government sector, and career progression and promotions are faster.
Concluding, Al-Watan indicated that the percentage of Qatarization of jobs in some companies reached 50 percent, but the percentages vary between companies, and among the most prominent private sector companies in which Qataris are employed are financial sector companies, such as banks, oil companies, natural gas, and telecommunications, all of which are subject to the retirement law.
