MODERATE HAZE IN NORTHEN STATE
PENANG (Malaysia), May 25 (Bernama) -- Peninsular Malaysia's northern state of Penang Monday experienced moderate haze, which restricted visibility to between four and six kilometres in places.
A spokesman of the Penang Meteorological Department said the level of the
haze was not a cause for concern.
He said that at 11am, the Air Pollution Index (API) recorded at the Seberang
Jaya station was 68 with visibility up to four kilometres.
"The API recorded in Perai was 53 with visibility up to five kilometres, and
70 at Universiti Sains Malaysia with visibility up to six kilometres," he said
when contacted.
He said the dry weather of late and the lack of rain had contributed to an
increase in the dust particles in the air, which resulted in the haze.
