N. Korea fires 3 short-range missiles following nuke test: S. Korea+


SEOUL, May 25 Kyodo -
North Korea fired three short-range missiles toward the Sea of Japan after
conducting a second nuclear test on Monday, South Korean Defense Minister Lee
Sang Hee said.

Lee told parliament that North Korea fired the first missile at around noon and
the other two missiles at around 5 p.m., all from North Korea's eastern coast.
South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, citing a diplomatic source, said North Korea
fired a ground-to-air missile with a range of 130 kilometers at around noon.
North Korea's official media said North Korea ''successfully conducted one more
underground nuclear test on May 25,'' without giving the exact time of the
test.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, artificial seismic waves from
North Korea were detected at around 9:54 a.m.
