Al-Sharq Acknowledges Upcoming Chadian Talks in Doha to Achieve Peace, Stability in Chad

Doha, March 10 (QNA) - In its editorial on Thursday, Al-Sharq newspaper acknowledged Doha's preparations to host the Chad Peace Talks, which will be held next Sunday, with the participation of representatives of the Transitional Military Council and the armed groups in Chad, pointing out, in this regard, to the coordination meeting held yesterday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a number of Ambassadors accredited to the country. The paper said that the meeting was chaired by HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution Dr. Mutlaq bin Majed Al Qahtani, with the participation of a number of Their Excellencies, directors of departments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international organization, adding that HE Dr. Al Qahtani affirmed the State of Qatar's keenness to achieve peace and stability in Chad and to exert its good offices in this regard. Al-Sharq explained that the State of Qatar has completed the logistical and coordination arrangements for the launch of the comprehensive Chadian national talks, which will be held next Sunday with the participation of various political and military movements in Chad, adding that Doha is looking forward to hosting the Chad Peace Talks between the Chadian parties within its efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in Chad. The paper noted that choosing the State of Qatar to host the preliminary Chadian talks, which will bring together the transitional government and the various Chadian groups, confirms the confidence of the Chadian, regional and international parties in the integrity of Qatar's mediation and its sincere efforts to mediate for the interest of Chad and the Chadian people, adding that it is also based on Qatar's belief in dialogue and preventive diplomacy, which happen to be significant pillars of its foreign policy. Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by highlighting Doha's effective diplomacy and its track record of many successful mediation cases that the world has acknowledged, including that of the Darfur region in Sudan, as well as Lebanon, Palestine and the Horn of Africa, in addition to its efforts in Afghanistan that have been highly appraised by the world, especially the talks that led to the historic agreement between the US and the Taliban. The paper added that these efforts affirm Qatar's capability to succeed in such negotiations, especially in light of African, European and French support, but primarily the willingness of the Chadian parties to engage in talks, and their confidence in Doha's mediation and its constant diplomacy with all partners to maintain international peace and security.
