Chairman of Organizing Committee of General Conference of Arab Union of Electricity: 59 Working Papers to be Discussed at Current Session

Doha, March 20 (QNA) - HE President of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari and Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the 7th General Conference of the Arab Union of Electricity, said that the current conference session will discuss 59 working papers, within which 11 specialized workshops will be organized covering the most relevant topics. In a speech during the opening session of the conference, His Excellency stated that the number of participants in the conference amounted to more than 522 specialists and interested persons, while the number of exhibitors in the two accompanying exhibitions reached 21 exhibitors. His Excellency considered the conference a unique platform for meeting and consultation, bringing together decision-makers and a group of specialists and workers in the electricity sector in the Arab world and presenting their research papers and achievements in the field. The conference is also a unique opportunity to communicate with international experts specialized in the field of energy to keep pace with the latest technologies and developments in the field. His Excellency added that the conference includes extensive sessions, which will discuss the policies and strategies of the electricity sector in the Arab world and the prospects for the electric power sector in the Arab world to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the role of new and renewable energies in developing the economy and preserving the environment in the Arab countries and the prospects of the Arab common market for electricity and interconnection projects. His Excellency stressed the importance and centrality of environmental sustainability issues for the energy sector, pointing out that the State of Qatar has adopted many pioneering initiatives in this field, including making the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar hosted by the country the first carbon-neutral tournament, which is a great achievement for the country and all Arabs. His Excellency expressed his hope that the conference and its various activities would represent a cornerstone to build a new future of effective Arab cooperation and coordination, in order to ensure the achievement of common goals and achieve a qualitative leap in the electric power sector for all member states.
