DIMDEX 2022 to Kick Off in Doha Monday

Doha, March 20 (QNA) - The 7th edition of Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2022) will open in Doha Monday under the title "Connecting the World's Maritime Defense and Security Community". The three-day event is organized by Qatar Armed Forces at Qatar National Convention Centre. Eleven visiting warships from nine countries, in addition to a ship from Qatar have docked at Hamad Port ahead of the event where about 200 exhibitors representing all spectrum of the global defense and security industry will display the latest innovations and technological products. The Organizing Committee held today a press conference to highlight the most important preparations and logistics. Chairman of the Permanent Committee of DIMDEX Staff Brigadier (Sea) Abdulbaqi Saleh Al Ansari said that the visiting warships at Hamad Port are one of the main attractions of the event. The warships include the Qatari armed training ship (AL DOHA); the mine countermeasures vessel of the British Royal Navy (HMS Middleton); the Italian frigate (Carlo Bergamini); the stealth guided-missile destroyer of the Indian Navy (INS Kolkata); the 056 stealth surface warfare guided missile corvette of the Bangladesh Navy (Prottasha); and others. Al Ansari added that the display of warships at Hamad Port, which gives visitors an opportunity to explore modern naval warships and interact with crew members, is one of the highlights of the DIMDEX exhibition since the inaugural edition, noting that the presence of a record number of 12 warships at DIMDEX 2022 does not only reflect the high international profile of DIMDEX, but also the success achieved in building long-term international partnerships of a symbiotic nature. More than 80 warships from the navies around the world have participated in DIMDEX since the launch of the inaugural edition in 2008. The biennial event for the maritime defense and security industry and is established as one of the leading events that provides multifaceted entities with unlimited opportunities to initiate significant deals and partnerships.
