Doha, March 24 (QNA) - Al-Sharq affirmed in its editorial Thursday that the 7th edition of Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2022) achieved success with the testimony of all delegations and exhibitors, and the size and number of deals signed. The newspaper said that during the exhibition, held under the theme "Connecting the World's Maritime Defense and Security Community", seven international companies signed contracts to participate in DIMDEX 2024, after the participation of more than 200 local, regional, and international companies, pointing out that the good turnout and the great praise from exhibitors and visitors reflects the success of the exhibition which was visited by more than 20,000. Al-Sharq underlined that DIMDEX 2022 represents a good opportunity for major companies, given that it facilitates commercial exchange between manufacturers and governmental bodies, and reflects Doha's successes as the capital of major conferences, exhibitions, and events, adding that the deals and memorandums of understanding announced during the three days proved DIMDEX's position as one of the biggest international exhibitions specialized in the field of maritime security. DIMDEX 2022 was not only an exhibition to display the latest technologies, innovations and systems related to maritime defense, but it was an occasion to meet chiefs of staff and military leaders, as it was visited by delegations from about 90 countries, where they discussed issues of security challenges related to maritime defense, the newspaper added. Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that the 7th edition was not limited to maritime security only, but also included other fields of security and defense, such as the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC), held under the theme "Resilience in the Maritime Domain Confronting Asymmetric Threats," which discussed the most important strategic issues and global regional challenges to maritime security, research into gulf security and the Arab region and how the maritime area connects all security elements, which is added to Doha's successes that strengthen its position in international decision-making and ways to confront security threats.
