WHO Delegation Visits Al Wakrah Municipality in Preparation for Its Adoption as "Healthy City"

Doha, March 30 (QNA) - A delegation from the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean of the World Health Organization (WHO) visited Al Wakrah Municipality to review the sustainable development file and the most prominent projects and initiatives of the municipality in preparation for its adoption as the third healthy city in the State of Qatar after the adoption of Doha and Al Rayyan in 2021. The delegation was acquainted with the most important projects and programs implemented by Al Wakrah, which contributed to obtaining the UNESCO Learning Cities Award for 2021, as one of the WHO objectives within the criteria of the Healthy City program, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health. The program of the visiting delegation included attending the 3rd "Al Wakrah Read" event, visiting the old Al Wakrah market and Al Wakrah Hospital, which is the main provider of treatment services in the city, and learning about the diagnostic and therapeutic services it provides and the role it contributes to creating a healthy, disease-free community in the city and its surrounding areas. The visiting delegation praised the distinguished level of services provided by Al Wakrah Hospital to the patients, its quality certificates and international accreditation from several international accreditation institutions, and its commitment to international standards for the services it provides.
