SDPM visits Luxembourg to boost co-operation

(KPL) Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Standing Deputy Prime Minister paid on 25 May a working visit to Luxembourg. He was accompanied by Minister of finance Somdy Douangdy and Governor of Central Bank Phouphet Khamphounvong.
Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister of Luxembourg Jean Claude Juncker to exchange the point of views. The function was also attended by Luxembourg minister of education and vocational training and minister of co-operation and human affairs. Mr. Somsavat also has a working session with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn.
The talks between the ministers related primarily to the bilateral relations of foreign politics and development co-operation, the regional situation and the internal situation of Laos. About this last point, the two sides discussed about the impact of the financial and economic crisis on the economy of Laos, particularly the effect in the copper industry.
During the visit, Mr. somsavat Lengsavad also visited the central Bank of Luxembourg , and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.The Laotian delegation attended a presentation of the history and activities of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. The focus of this presentation was primarily on the role that the Luxembourg Stock Exchange has for the listing of international securities, especially those from Asian issuers. This was followed by a presentation on the activities and projects of Finesti, a subsidiary of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange that specialises in information relating to investment funds.
The presentations were concluded by a reception at the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, during which the Lao delegation met the Executive Committee and officials of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
