FOUR WTO DEPUTY DG`S TO BE RETAINED

KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 (Bernama) -- The World Trade Organisation (WTO)
director-general Pascal Lamy has informed the organisation's General Council
that he intends to retain his four deputies in their current position.

Lamy starts his second mandate at the helm of the WTO on September
1. The four deputies are Chile's Alejandro Jara, Valentine Rugwabiza of Rwanda,
India's Harsha Singh and Rufus Yerxa from the United States.

Their terms of office begin on October 1.

"During the last four years, this strong team has served the organization
and its members with dedication and vision.

"Together we have worked to advance the interests of the multilateral
trading system.

"As we prepare to move into the last mile of the Doha Round,I believe in
the need for experience and to safeguard continuity," Lamy said.
