Al-Sharq Highlights Repercussions of Forming Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen

Doha, April 08 (QNA) - In its Friday editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted repercussions of forming a presidential leadership council in Yemen on the efforts to cease fire and the two-month truce announced at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. The newspaper said that the announcement of the Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi of forming a Presidential Leadership Council, the transfer of his full powers to the Council to complete the implementation of the transitional period's tasks, and managing the country politically, militarily and security throughout the transitional period, is a step in the direction of unifying the Yemeni ranks, which helps to stop the fighting and conflicts between all forces and work to realize peace that achieves security and stability in all parts of the country. Al-Sharq added that the presidential announcement, which was reported by the Yemeni News Agency yesterday, is responsible for negotiating with the Houthis a permanent ceasefire throughout Yemen and sitting at the negotiating table to reach a final and comprehensive political solution that includes a transitional period that will move Yemen from a state of war to a state of peace, provided that the term of the Presidential Leadership Council ends, in accordance with a comprehensive political solution and the establishment of complete peace throughout the republic, which includes defining the transitional period and its requirements, or when general elections are held in accordance with the new constitution and the inauguration of the new president of the republic. Al-Sharq expected significant progress in the ceasefire negotiations in Yemen during the next stage, saying that perhaps these new measures, which come after the parties to the conflict in Yemen agreed to a two-month armistice, renewable with the consent of the parties, give more hope that these steps will be integrated, push for a comprehensive and permanent cease-fire in Yemen, and reinforce the positive trend for the involvement of all actors in the Yemeni scene with the support of the international community in the comprehensive political track and national reconciliation, in order to achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people for security, stability and prosperity. The newspaper affirmed that the Yemeni parties today bear a great responsibility that needs political will to work to resolve the crisis and cross their country to safety, explaining that any step contributes to moving Yemen from war to the path of diplomacy and dialogue in a way that leads to peace and achieves the aspirations of the Yemeni people should find support from everyone.
