QU College of Law Ranked among Top 250 Law Schools Worldwide

Doha, April 12 (QNA) - The most recent results of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2022 have placed the College of Law at Qatar University (QU) in the top 250 law schools in the world. This marks the first time the College of Law has featured in a global ranking. This result places the College of Law at Qatar University second among all law schools in the Arab world and in the top 50 law schools in Asia. In welcoming this result, Acting Dean of the College of Law Dr. Muna Al Marzouqi commented: "This result is based on many years of effort and arises from the hard work of all members of our college - both past and present." The QS World University Rankings is among the most important and highly regarded university rankings. QS annually ranks universities overall but also ranks universities by specific subject areas such as science, law and engineering. In 2022, Qatar University achieved its highest overall ranking of 224. Law is one of six new entries for QU in the QS subject rankings 2022. The QS rankings are based on a number of measurable criteria. The criteria include the quality of research published by each college, based on how many times a publication is cited by subsequent works, which accounts for 20% of the rating. The more weighted criterion informing the ranking of law colleges around the world is the domestic and international reputation a college enjoys among employers and other academics in the same field. The College of Law at QU has received international academic accreditation from the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education (BAC), and international accreditation from the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES) in France for its bachelor’s in law program.
