HM King receives Russian Foreign Minister

Manama, May 30 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received today at Al Sakhir Palace – in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who arrived on a visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Lavrov conveyed to HM the King greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people further progress and prosperity. The Russian Foreign Minister expressed deepest thanks and gratitude to HM the King for the warm welcome and good hospitality, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further development, progress and prosperity. HM the King and the Russian Foreign Minister reviewed regional and international developments and challenges, particularly the current situation in Ukraine. HM the King stressed the importance of resolving the conflict in Ukraine in a way that achieves the interests of the two neighbouring countries and the security and stability of the European continent, as well as international peace and security. He underlined the need to engage in dialogue and diplomatic solutions in accordance with the rules of international law in order to reach a political settlement that ends the conflict, guarantees security and peace for all parties, preserves the lives of civilians, and delivers humanitarian and relief aid for refugees and displaced persons. HM the King extended sincere greetings to President Putin, wishing Russia and its friendly people security, development and prosperity. He stressed Bahrain’s pride in its long-standing historic friendship with Russia, as well as its keenness on further bolstering joint ties across all fields towards serving common interests.
