SCE Chairman affirms Bahrain's keenness on protecting environment

Manama, June 4 (BNA): Personal Representative of His Majesty the King, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to adopt initiatives and projects aimed at protecting the environment and wildlife, He also stressed keenness on protecting human life, achieving the sustainable development goals and supporting the international efforts in this respect.
Marking the World Environment Day, which is observed on June 5 every year and celebrated this year under the theme ‘We Only Have One Land”, HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa asserted the importance and support accorded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the environmental issues. He pointed out, in this regard, the royal directives and steps, including the ratification of Law (7) of 2022 which ushers in a new working phase in protecting the environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain and copes with the latest developments in the environmental field locally, regionally and internationally.
HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa pointed out the efforts of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in protecting the environment and achieving the sustainable development goals. He noted the kingdom’s commitment to the agreements signed with many organisations and specialized international parties in the field of protecting the environment and climate. He underlined the kingdom’s ambitious plans to cut down emissions by 30% by 2035, citing many measures taken in this regard like increasing the green areas and multiplying the goals of renewable energy. He also pointed out the legislative measures taken by the kingdom to protect the environment, citing HM the King’s ratification of Law (5) of 2021 and Law (30) of 2021.
HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa commended the civilizational features characterizing the Bahraini community, stressing the need for collective efforts to safeguard the environmental and climate stability for future generations.
