Al-Watan Stresses Importance of Concerted Arab Efforts to Confront Global Challenges

Doha, June 15 (QNA) - In its editorial on Wednesday, Al-Watan newspaper stressed the need for concerted and unified efforts among the countries of the Arab region to confront the challenges and crises facing the global economy.
In this regard, the newspaper referred to what HE Secretary-General of the League of Arab States for Economic Affairs Ambassador Mubarak Al Hajri said in a speech he delivered during the launch ceremony of the unified Arab economic report for 2021 at the Arab League. HE stated that Arab countries are not immune from the challenges of the global economy, which is witnessing the fallout from the political crises, armed wars, or economic crises that are afflicting the economies of countries. He stressed the importance of concerted and unified efforts among the countries of the Arab region and achieving more cooperation between joint Arab action organizations to overcome the challenges of unemployment, poverty, and the dwindling of valuable industrial exports of high returns and others.
Al-Watan also reported his assertion that existence of such economic documents, including the unified Arab Economic Report remains of utmost importance in the midst of those challenges, adding that wars now have become information wars between states and institutions, even between small companies. Accurate, documented information is what the decision maker needs to face these challenges and make informed decisions based on scientific foundations and facts that reflect reality.
The newspaper pointed out that in light of the challenges of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which casts a shadow over the Arab region when it comes to providing some food products such as wheat, corn and others that some Arab countries depend on from those two countries, there must be innovative solutions, strategies and development plans to bridge that gap.
Al-Watan concluded its editorial by saying that this can only be done through a deliberate and planned collective decision, especially since the Arab countries possess the lands needed for agriculture, expert labor and all the necessary elements for the advancement of this vital sector, which calls for meetings at the highest levels in order to find solutions and start implementing them urgently.
