Al Sharq: Qatari-Rwanda Relations are Witnessing Continuous Development

Doha, June 24 (QNA) - In its editorial today, Al Sharq newspaper highlighted the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Rwanda at the invitation of HE President of the friendly Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame, to participate in the twenty-sixth Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
The newspaper added that this visit comes at a time when Qatari-Rwanda relations are witnessing continuous development in light of a common concern to strengthen cooperation in various fields. HH the Amir visited Rwanda twice in April and December of 2019, while HE the Rwandan President made multiple visits to Doha during February 2022, October 2021, October 2019, December 2019 and November 2018.
The newspaper explained that HH the Amir's visit reflects an important aspect of Qatar's policy and approach of openness and cooperation with various brotherly and friendly countries and peoples, as well as participation in major meetings and forums, within the framework of its commitment to multilateral cooperation to confront common global challenges and explore opportunities for the good of future generations.
Al Sharq indicated that the participation of HH the Amir in this important forum, which brings together the leaders of 54 countries, and whose countries have a population of 2.6 billion people, i.e. one third of the population of the earth, is an opportunity to deepen consultation and cooperation for common interests, enhance international understanding and world peace, and build beneficial partnerships. This is thanks to the influence and potential of the Commonwealth and the need for it as an urgent force for good and as an effective network for cooperation and to promote development, in light of the major challenges facing the world today, whether from unprecedented threats to peace and security, or the repercussions that resulted from the Coronavirus pandemic and its impact on economic conditions.
