NIHR participates in seminar on 'Preventing Torture in the Context of Public Assemblies'

Manama, June 29 (BNA): The Secretariat-General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has participated in a seminar on “Preventing Torture in the Context of Public Assemblies”, organised by Amnesty International in partnership with the Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT). The workshop discussed a number of topics related to the prevention of torture in public assemblies. It also discussed the role of preventive mechanisms in providing information to the Subcommittee on its mandate and performance, as well as the main challenges and good practices of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the legal framework for the prevention of torture, and the role of national human rights institutions in preventing torture.
