Algeria Made Significant Progress In All Fields of Development Since Independence -- Ambassador
KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 (Bernama) -- Since its independence in 1962, Algeria has made significant progress and achievements in all fields of development, said Algeria’s ambassador to Malaysia Saad Maandi.
He said great efforts have been made to further strengthen the economy, reinforce the financial capacities of the country as well as improve the living conditions of the people in terms of housing, education and healthcare.
Maandi pointed out that the 54 commitments by Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune aim to build the new Algeria - stronger and prosperous.
He said hundreds of thousands of medium and small-sized companies are being created and huge infrastructures consolidated.
“The democratic renewal of the entire institutional structure of the country has been enabled and capacities of our industry and agriculture are being reinforced,” he said in his speech at the 60th anniversary of the Independence Day of Algeria at a hotel on Tuesday night.
The guest of honour was Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Ahmad Amzad Hashim.
He said that economic reinforcement is one of the major priorities of President Tebboune and that 2022 will be the year of economic upturn in a new Algeria that counts on its potential.
The ambassador said recently Algeria has adopted a new investment law to improve the business climate and attract foreign investors. The new bill will instill a strong dynamic for the expansion and diversification of its national economy.
He said under the leadership of President Tebboune, Algeria is strengthening its position as a major key player in the stability and establishment of peace in the region.
“Algeria has been involved in several mediation endeavours in the region’s conflicts and crises and is making efforts to stabilise the region and to resolve those crises by addressing their main causes and defending the high values of dialogue, negotiation, mutual trust, respect and cooperation,” he pointed out.
More than 1.5 million Algerians died during the liberation war that lasted seven and half years against France.
The ambassador said Algeria and Malaysia also share the same values and the common commitment to consolidating multilateralism, upholding international law, promoting the peaceful settlements of disputes and conflicts and making the world safer, secure and more flourishing.
