Saudi Appoints MWL Sec-Gen To Deliver Arafah Sermon
MAKKAH, July 6 (Bernama) -- The Saudi Arabian government has agreed to appoint Sheikh Dr Muhammad Abdul Karim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), to lead prayers and deliver a sermon at the Namirah Mosque on Arafah Day on Friday (July 8).
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques announced via its portal that the government, under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, issued the approval on Tuesday (July 5).
Al-Issa is widely recognised as a contemporary scholar committed to bringing global awareness of the true image of Islam, in addition to promoting the values of moderation, tolerance, and interfaith harmony.
In academia, Al-Issa who is an expert in the field of Sharia (Islamic law) is often invited to give lectures at academic institutions and international intellectual bodies in several countries around the world.
Recently in Malaysia, he attended the Southeast Asian Ulama Conference 2022 held in Bandar Sunway in Petaling Jaya last week, besides paying a courtesy call on Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
