Prime Minister leaves for Republic of Korea

(KPL) A high ranking delegation of Laos led by Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh left here on Saturday for the Republic of Korea to attend the Asean-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit. The ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit 2009 is an international meeting which Republic of Korea is holding to celebrate the 20th year anniversary of the ASEAN-Republic of Korea dialogue relations. The summit is to be held from 1 to 2 June, 2009 in Jeju Island, Republic of Korea. The Heads of Government/State of each ASEAN member country, the President of Korea, and the Secretary General of ASEAN will attend the summit.
The ASEAN-Korea CEO Summit, ASEAN-Korea Traditional Music Orchestra, and Green Technology Exhibition will be held as special events at the International Convention Center Jeju (ICC Jeju) from May 31 to June 2, respectively.
During the visit, PM Bouasone will also attend the ASEAN-Korea CEO Summit which will provide a chance to promote co-operation between business in Korea and Asean region.
Mr. Bouasone and his delegation will also meet for discussions with officials from the South Korean government. The event will serve as a platform to promote Laos to the region and encourage co-operation efforts amongst Asean members to cope with the current global challenges.
