Khammouane potassium plant to kick off producing this year

(KPL) The construction work of a potassium plant in Thakhek district, Khammouane province is 80 % complete and expected to be launched at the end of this year.
The progress was reported to Deputy Head of Water Resource and Environment Administration, Mr Noulin Sinbandith during visit the plant last two weeks.
The plant will be the production capacity of 100,000 tonnes yearly and China would be the main export market.
“However, the plant should take into account the environment conservation as the top-priority,” Mr Noulin advised. “The compensation to satisfy local people who suffered from the construction should be intensified”.
The potassium plant started constructing last November, which covered on 15 hectares.
The international standard certificate of environmental protection is the most importance that the plant should have, he advised.
