Shaikha Mai meets Albanian Prime Minister

Tirana, July 22 (BNA): Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, met here Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, on the sidelines of her visit to Albania to discuss ways to bolster cultural cooperation between the two countries. Shaikha Mai expressed thanks to Prime Minister Edi Rama for the meeting, which reflects his interest in developing relations with the kingdom, stressing the importance of communication between cultural institutions in both countries to enhance bilateral cultural cooperation and pave the way for launching joint projects and programmes in exchanging expertise and preserving ancient cities. She also commended the efforts exerted by Edi Rama during his previous positions as Tirana Mayor, Culture Minister and artist to develop the cultural infrastructure and preserve heritage property. Shaikha Mai also briefed Prime Minister Edi Rama about the rich heritage of t eh Muharraq City and the work of the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research, inviting him to showcase his cultural works in Bahrain. Shaikha Mai also met Albanian Culture Minister, Elva Margariti, with whom she discussed issues of common interest, particularly ancient cities and ways to preserve their historical houses that reflect their long history. Shaikha Mai also toured Tirana City, along with Mayor Erion Veliaj, and was informed about its cultural landmarks, including the National History Museum, Opera and Ballet Theatre and iconic Et'hem Bej Mosque.
