Workshop to identify Government's future priorities in the field of social services held

Manama, July 24 (BNA): The third workshop to identify government priorities in the future was held today, focusing onn social services. The workshop is in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to hold workshops to identify the key priorities that will shape the government’s future aspirations. Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan chaired the workshop, which was also attended by ministers, undersecretaries, assistant undersecretaries and relevant directors. It is the third of the five workshops devoted to identifying the future aspirations of government work. They focus on the following priorities, namely infrastructure and environment, legislation, social services work, finance and economy, in addition to government performance and digital transformation. The minister stressed Bahrain’s drive to provide all the requirements and needs of citizens in a manner that meets their aspirations for a decent life, foremost of which is the provision of appropriate social services - in light of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the follow-up of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The focus on social services is to achieve more progress and development through ambitious development initiatives and projects aimed at providing the pillars of a decent life for citizens”, he said. He stressed the need to implement programs and projects that contribute to enhancing the standard of living of citizens, which positively reflects on stability and social security. A coordination committee which preceded the workshop provided a platform to identify the initiatives and priorities related to this axis for the next stage. The views were then submitted to the Ministerial Committee, which approved them, and the outputs of this workshop will later be presented at the Future Priorities Workshop, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. Seven policies featuring 30 initiatives and projects that fall under the axis of social services work have been listed to be the basis for setting future priorities. These include - upgrading education and training, raising the effectiveness of the educational system, encouraging scientific research, developing innovative housing solutions that meet the needs of citizens, enhancing the quality of health services, and creating promising jobs, making citizens the first choice in the labour market, empowering youth, supporting sports and innovation, developing and sustaining services, ensuring their quality, strengthening partnership with the private sector, and enhancing the role of the media in shaping public culture.
