Viettel Telecom announced its largest promotional campaign
Hanoi (VNA)- Viettel Telecom, an army joint-stock company, announced its largest
ever promotional campaign on June 1 by immediately cutting service charges by up to
30 percent.
As a result, the subscription fee for pre-paid calls will drop to 50,000 VND per
month against the 59,000 VND charged previously and the cost per minute will drop
by 100 VND. Charges for pre-paid calls on all categories, from Economy to Tomato,
Ciao, Happy Zone, Daily and Cha and Con will also be reduced by 10 to 30 percent.
Viettel also launched a new budget service for students and VIP’s that offers
the cheapest charges around for students and an unlimited calling time.
VIP’s will receive 200 minutes of talk time for free and 200 MB of space for
using data services at just 250,000 VND per month.
The Deputy Director of Viettel’s Telecom Strategy, Nguyen Viet Dung, said that
the promotion is applicable to all clients instead of just 30 percent as in
previous campaigns.
He added that telecom services in Vietnam remain more expensive than those
available in neighbouring countries such as Cambodia , Laos and Thailand .
After operating for eight years, Viettel Telecom has emerged as the biggest
supplier of its kind in the country and also the first to provide services
overseas.
The army company has so far built over 17,000 transmitters and has 36 million
subscribers. Its subscriptions are expected to surpass 40 million by the end of
