Children have the right to be proud of their educational achievements
Hanoi (VNA) – Children living in extreme difficulties with excellent academic
records have the right to be proud of their educational achievements as they make a
significant contribution to society and to the nation’ s development, said State
President Nguyen Minh Triet.
He declared that the Party, State, general public, businesses and social
organisations have always cared for children and especially the ones that face
extreme hardships.
President Triet made the remarks at a reception in Hanoi on June 1 for 50
children from 10 provinces across the country who live in extreme difficulties but
have had outstanding academic success.
He said that he hoped that the children will continue on their quests for more
success in their studies as this will offer them a brighter future.
The President used the occasion to express his gratitude to a number of individuals
and social organisations for having worked with the Party and the State in the drive
to stamp out poverty and care for the families of fallen combatants, wounded
soldiers and children living in extreme difficulties.
According to the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the country
has around 24 million children, 1.6 million of whom are facing extreme hardship,
