35-Member Delegation From Malaysia’s MAIPs Visits Phuket, Thailand

SATUN (Thailand), Aug 5 (Bernama) -- A 35-member delegation from Malaysia’s northernmost state Perlis, including from the State Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), department heads and media members are on a three-day visit to Phuket, Thailand. MAIPs chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor said the visit aimed at forging closer relations with the Muslim community there through smart partnerships in various fields, such religious development, economy, social, education and culture. He said this was in line with the philosophy in the establishment of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT). "MAIPs has long collaborated with the six Andaman Provinces in Southern Thailand, namely Krabi, Ranong, Phuket, Phang Nga, Trang and Satun. We (MAIPs) share with them expertise including in zakat and halal management," he told reporters here. The delegates are travelling in a bus to Phuket, during which they will make several stops along the way, including here and in Krabi. -- BERNAMA
