Sekong, Quang Nam further cooperate on economic development
(KPL) Sekong province of Laos and Quang Nam province of Vietnam agreed to sign a cooperation agreement on socio-economic development, on 27 May, Sekong province.
Signatories to the document, Governor of Sekong province, Dr. Khamphanh Phoummathath and Chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee, Vietnam, Mr. Le Minh Anh.
The agreement focused on further comprehends on mutual laws and treaties to local people living along their common borders, and further border survey of illegal logging, wildlife trade and other smuggling.
They agreed to further cooperate in the frameworks of economy, culture and society. Sekong province pledged to facilitate Quang Nam investors to invest in a trade centre in Sekong province and a market in Thateng district, agriculture and livestock development in Sekong province.
The two sides were satisfied with previous cooperation particularly national defence which developed the existing longstanding special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam.
Quang Nam province had so far helped in training authorities of Sekong province and financial support for building a Provincial Military Headquartre Office. Bilateral trade has so far reached USD 24 million. Quang Nam province granted to build a Dakchung hospital district was worth of 3.5 billion dong.
