Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, September 06 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers on Tuesday focused on the distinguished relations between the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait, stressing their historical relationship cemented by the common positions and cooperation stemming from a bilateral and strategic will of the political leadership of the two countries. The newspapers also noted Qatar's government agencies, private organizations, and individuals' participation in charitable and humanitarian work, by providing aid and support to poor families in Gaza, assistance in Afghanistan, Somalia, and typhoon victims in the Philippines, and in many countries to combat COVID-19. Locally, the newspapers noted Qatar's efforts to create a digital industry that would make it a hub for digital innovation in the region. Qatar has made great strides in enabling and accelerating the growth of business in the ICT field in the country by establishing a strategic network of partners locally and internationally to facilitate and improve service delivery for digital businesses, the papers pointed out. For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper said that Qatar and Kuwait have strong brotherly relations at all levels, and they are linked by a common history, destiny, and purpose. The paper indicated the two countries' efforts to advance relations at all political and economic levels and coordinate joint files that guarantee the stability and security of the region through the two sides' permanent exchange of visits and contacts at the highest levels. In this context, the newspaper underlined that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received a written message from HH Deputy Amir and Crown Prince of the sisterly State of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, pertaining to the solid fraternal relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them, in addition to several topics of common interest. The Qatari-Kuwaiti relations extend historically and were consolidated over many years. The relations passed through prominent stations that contributed to the consolidation of communication, whether at the bilateral level or through regional and international organizations, especially through the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), the paper said. Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that both Doha and Kuwait are working to achieve the highest levels of cooperation and coordination, and open permanent and continuous channels of communication, synergy, and joint cooperation in order to serve the interests of the two countries and contribute to the stability and development of the Gulf region. For its part, Al-Watan newspaper indicated that the relations between the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait are characterized by their historical relationship, cemented by common positions and great cooperation stemming from the bilateral and strategic will of the political leadership of the two countries. The bilateral relationship between the two countries and their people can be described as exceptional, as all the common positions between them indicate that the rapprochement stems from a firm will that made these relations an example of mutual respect and joint cooperation for the benefit of the Gulf and Arab people, the paper said. The bilateral relations achieved the highest levels of compatibility and harmony within the framework of the close and distinguished ties that link the two brotherly countries, thanks to the care and wisdom of the leaders of the two countries. These relations witnessed a wide development, reflecting the convergence of the two countries views on all political and economic levels and the common visions on regional and international files. Therefore, the two sides exchange visits permanently at the highest levels, the paper pointed out. The message, delivered by HE Envoy of HH the Amir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah during HH the Amir's meeting with him, affirmed the continuous consultative approach between the two countries, and the common interest in pushing relations to broader and deeper horizons for the benefit of the two countries' people and the people of the region as a whole, the paper said. In conclusion, Al-Watan said that the balanced, wise, and open Kuwaiti diplomacy has consistently enjoyed all the support from Qatar, and likewise, the Qatari policies have enjoyed support from Kuwait, as both brotherly countries are working diligently to establish an atmosphere of security and stability in the region and international peace and security, noting that his has enabled them to gain the appreciation and respect of the world. In its editorial, English-language newspaper, The Peninsula, said that Qatar's global humanitarian efforts have been well documented and have won accolades from individuals, organisations and governments, adding that in Qatar, government entities, private organisations, and individuals engage in charity and humanitarian aid, from aid and support to struggling families in Gaza, assistance to Afghanistan, Somalia, typhoon victims in the Philippines and most notably, aid to countries in need during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the title "Qatar's humanitarian efforts continues", the paper said that Qatar partners with relevant United Nations agencies to ensure all regions, especially developing countries facing crises and natural disasters, have access to this aid. Qatar is also a member of the Board of Directors of the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and is the world's top Arab and sixth largest contributor to multi-partner UN funds and programmes, the paper said, noting that Qatar yesterday, through Qatar Fund For Development and partners, implemented a series of relief convoys for those affected by the floods and rains in Sudan's Al Jazirah, River Nile, and Kassala states. Food and shelter have been distributed to affected families in these areas, it added. In conclusion, The Peninsula said that QFFD always seeks to provide the necessary relief aid in many crisis-hit areas worldwide and will be ready to provide urgent humanitarian aid to the affected communities. On the other hand, Al-Raya newspaper affirmed that the State of Qatar has become an attractive country for local and foreign investments, due to its good reputation and reliability, thanks to the leadership that attached great importance to the economic file, as part of its endeavors to become a global financial hub. The paper hailed the Investment Promotion Agency's (IPA Qatar) announcement of a new partnership with Credit Suisse, in which the bank will expand on its existing operations in Doha and establish the Qatar Technology & Engineering Hub, the paper pointed out that this will have a positive impact on the acceleration of digital transformation in Qatar and the region as a whole, taking advantage of the solid ground and strong infrastructure in order to transform into a knowledge-based economy as part of the State's endeavors to implement its National Vision 2030. This step, as affirmed by CEO of IPA Qatar, will advance the digital transformation of the financial services sector and open windows of business growth opportunities, the paper underlined. Qatar has made great strides in enabling and accelerating the growth of business in the field of information and communication technology in the country, and by establishing a strategic network of partners locally and internationally to facilitate and improve the provision of services to digital companies, and develop new platforms that will provide further insight for the partners, Al-Raya concluded.
