Historic Ain Umm Guwaifa Natural Water Spring opened after revamp

Manama, Sept. 15 (BNA): In the presence of Municipalities' Affairs and Agriculture Minister, Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, and Southern Governor, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the historic Ain Umm Guwaifa Natural Water Spring was opened following its revamp. The minister and HH the Southern Governor inspected the sites, and were informed about the development work it had witnessed. Commenting, Al-Mubarak affirmed the Municipalities' Affairs and Agriculture Ministry’s interest in developing heritage sites to preserve them for current and future generations, as they stand witness to the kingdom's long history and civilisations, as well as the customs and traditions of its people since ancient times. He unveiled the Ministry's plans to revamp various historical and heritage sites related to its terms of reference so as to be a destination for those interested in the kingdom's long history and the traditions of its society. He added that the ministry plans to revamp historic springs and parks, in cooperation with governorates and municipal councils. Southern Governor, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali commended His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and those of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to improve the quality of services delivered to the citizens. His Highness highlighted the Southern Governorate's keenness to identify the needs of the local citizens, through field visits and keenness to implement projects in cooperation with the relevant government departments. HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali indicated that the development of Ain Umm Guwaifa Natural Water Spring is in line with the Southern Governorate's interest in meeting the citizens' needs regarding historical sites, praising the efforts of the Municipalities' Affairs and Agriculture in this regard.
