KL TO HOST FIRST ASIAN GRAND PIANO CONCERT
KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- The first Asian Grand Piano Concert is to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on June 12.
Malaysian Chopin Society president Tunku Munirah Tunku Mustapha said this
was a great platform to introduce more local talents and help promote cultural
and musical exchange between individuals and countries participating in the
event.
Malaysians had gone abroad often enough to expose young talents and it was
high time that Malaysia hosted such a grand piano concert to introduce them at
the national and international levels, she said after launching the society's
new website, here.
The one-day event, which was initiated by the society and the Korean Piano
Society, will involve 73 outstanding young pianists, even as young as six years
of age.
Some 137 pianists from Malaysia, South Korea, Hong Kong and Indonesia will
participate in the concert.
The pianists, appearing in pairs, will be simultaneously playing a
repertoire of classical compositions on four full-size concert grand pianos
throughout the evening -- for the first time in Malaysia.
The King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, is expected to attend
the event as his youngest daughter, Tengku Fatimatuz Zahra', will be performing
in the junior concert.
