MALAYSIAN KING TO HONOUR OIC'S IHSANOGLU

DUBAI, June 5 (Bernama) -- Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) secretary-general Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu is to be conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkota (PSM) award by Malaysia's King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.
According to an OIC statement, Ihsanoglu would receive the honorary award
which carries the title 'Tan Sri', at a ceremony on Saturday.
"The conferment of this title is a recognition of the secretary-general's
services and contribution to Malaysia, as well as his outstanding leadership of
the OIC to preserve Islamic, social and economic values and promote Islamic
solidarity among OIC member states," said the statement.
The 57-nation Jeddah-based OIC represents 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide.
