Maldivian President visits cultural landmarks in Bahrain

Manama, Oct. 7 (BNA): President of the Republic of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohammed Solih, visited today a number of cultural landmarks, including Bahrain National Museum, Bahrain National Theatre and Bab Al-Bahrain area, on the sidelines of his official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. He was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdellatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.
The President of the Maldives was received by the President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and senior officials from BACA. He was informed about the collectibles at Bahrain National Museum, which reflect the kingdom’s glorious history and heritage.
The Maldivian President toured the museum and got informed about the artefacts in its main halls which tell Bahrain’s history of more than 4000 years, since the Dilmun civilization up to date. He also toured the Hall of Dilmun Graves, which is dedicated to Dilmun Burial Mounds which are registered on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. He also visited the temporary exhibition hall, which is currently hosting the "Air Topology" exhibition by Scottish artist Shona Illingworth.
The President of the Maldives was briefed about the constructive role of Bahrain National Museum in laying bridges of communication between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the rest of the world and highlighting the kingdom’s cultural and civilizational heritage.
During his tour of Bab Al-Bahrain area, the Maldivian President explored the significance of the place in the history of Manama and its role in promoting the city’s standing as a cultural, economic and social tributary.
