Oil Spill Response Limited opens its new headquarters in Bahrain

Manama, Oct. 11 (BNA): ‏Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Oil and Environment Minister, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, has stressed the importance of developing the necessary capabilities and resources for rapid response of oil spills accidents, through maintaining a high level of oil spill preparedness, providing the necessary equipment and training for workers specialized in oil spills response. ‏Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) opened its new base in Bahrain, under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, in the presence of OSRL's Chief Executive Robert Limb, and OSRL’s Middle East Regional Manager Rhys Jenkins. The Minister of Oil and Environment praised OSRL for choosing Bahrain as headquarters for their operations in the region and the efforts it has made to improve its technical and logistical capabilities. He also noted that these efforts reflect the company's keenness to improve the quality of its operations and services it provides to the Kingdom, and improve its readiness to handle any oil spills that may occur in regional waters. ‏Middle East Regional Manager Rhys Jenkins said that the new facility in Bahrain allows the company to further enhance the services it delivers in the region, and facilitate greater preparedness, allowing it to hold more training courses and technical workshops in the region as the new conference room facility can provide training of up to 12 delegates. ‏Mr. Jenkins also expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Kingdom of Bahrain for its continuous support since 2006 when OSRL first established a permanent presence in Bahrain. He also wished for the continuation of the existing cooperation with the Kingdom to protect the environment from damages resulting from oil spills accidents. Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) is the largest international industry-funded spill-response cooperative, dedicated to responding to oil spills. OSRL currently employs 275 people across 12 locations and is headquartered in Southampton, UK .
