Seoul shares trade 0.01 pct higher in late morning

SEOUL, June 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.01 percent higher late
Friday morning as investor sentiment was lifted by overnight gains in U.S.
markets, sending tech shares higher, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 0.09 points to
1,378.23 as of 11:20 a.m.
Tech shares traded in positive territory, with market bellwether Samsung
Electronics and the world's second-largest display maker LG Display leading the
overall rally.
Wall Street rallied on Thursday after the U.S. government reported that the
number of workers continuing to receive unemployment benefits unexpectedly fell
for the first time in 20 weeks. The Down Jones industrial average rose 0.86
percent and the tech-laced Nasdaq surged 1.32 percent.
The Korean currency was trading at 1,245.85 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., up 5.15 won from Thursday's close.
