Shura member hails Bahraini women's successful participation in decision-making process

Kigali, Oct. 14 (BNA): Shura Council member, and member of Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation to the the145th Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) and its related meetings in Rwanda, Hala Ramzy Fayez, has praised the kingdom’s advanced constitutional and legislative system, which granted Bahraini women a wide scope for active and positive political participation, paving the way for them to assume parliamentary and leadership positions in constitutional institutions, as well as contribute to the decision-making process in various official and private entities. Ramzy attributed Bahraini women’s advancement, achievements and continuous in assuming local and international leadership positions to forward-looking vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister. Ramzy highlighted the pivotal role played by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King, to advance Bahraini women in all fields, including the consolidation of their political participation in decision-making positions, contributing to their success in holding many leadership positions in the legislative and executive branches. The Shura member was speaking while moderating the panel session, themed “Towards gender equality: Celebrating and understanding the accomplishments of women’s parliamentary caucuses”, held as part of the 145th IPU Assembly, held here. Ramzy expressed pride in the advanced level reached by Bahraini women as reflected in their remarkable success in the executive posts they have held, noting that the SCW has created favourable conditions for activating policies, programmes and plans to support integrating women’s needs in development programmes, which has contributed to achieving gender balance, and increasing women’s participation in the legislative branch, and in the elections, as candidates or voters. She also commended the important role played by the coordination committee between the SCW and the legislative branch to follow up on the implementation of the National Model for Mainstreaming Women’s Needs.
