Bahrain participates in Arab Document Day celebration in Cairo

Cairo, Oct. 17 (BNA): Isa Cultural Center Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Executive Director Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa participated in the Arab Document Day Celebration at the Arab League in Cairo. In hi speech, Shaikh Khalid quoted His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, "If civilization is the daughter of history, then history is the record of civilization, its writer, and its court," which His Majesty highlighted as the Crown Prince in the first issue of Al Watheeqa journal in 1982. The journal is issued by the Historical Documents Center. "This saying has had a great impact on placing history within the considerations of cultural and social life in Bahrain, especially when we are talking about a historical extension of the Kingdom that goes back more than 5,000 years," Shaikh Khalid said. He stressed the importance of history in linking civilizations and bridging gaps, as a necessary human function in the present era subject to forgeries and frauds to destroy nations and states and stir up strife between peoples and societies. Shaikh Khalid called on the Arab institutions concerned with historical documentation and archiving to review legislation for the security and protection of historical documents in view of the technical development in the media and communications that have changed the methods of historical and informational counterfeiting. He also called on Arab historians to unite and preserve codification and documentation.
