Council of Representatives receives US Congress delegation

Manama, Oct. 25 (BNA): The Council of Representatives received today a delegation from the US Congress as part of their official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The council’s Secretariat General briefed the delegation about the parliamentary march in the Kingdom of Bahrain since the initiation of the democratic process and the comprehensive development project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Secretariat General affirmed the legislative branch’s keenness to boost parliamentary diplomatic relations and exchange experiences with the US Congress. It also reviewed the formation of the bicameral National Assembly and the specialties of both councils and their cooperation with the government. The Secretariat General briefed the US Congress delegation about its qualitative programmes during the fifth legislative term and preparations for the upcoming one. The US delegation commended Bahrain’s efforts and its pioneering parliamentary march in the region, noting the significance to continue exchanging visits and expertise between the legislative branches in both countries. They also stressed the importance to further boost parliamentary diplomacy and coordinate stances in international parliamentary gatherings to achieve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
