NIHR, Dutch Ambassador discuss cooperation

Manama Oct. 27 (BNA): National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Chairperson Ali Ahmed Al Derazi received Dutch Ambassador to Bahrain residing in Kuwait Laurens Westhoff. Al Derazi presented an overview of the institution and ways to promote human rights in Bahrain. He highlighted its most important achievements and the announced and unannounced visits made by members of the board of commissioners of Correction and Rehabilitation Centers, especially the training programs offered by NIHR to promote awareness regarding human rights. The meeting discussed the Penal Code and Alternative Measures, and the mechanism for its effective implementation by providing appropriate rehabilitation programs. They reviewed the outcomes of the International Conference of Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law recently organized by the NIHR. The ambassador expressed his keenness to strengthening cooperation and achieving development goals.
