AIRASIA X D7 2723 PASSENGERS SHOULD CONTACT M'SIAN HEALTH MINISTRY

KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 (Bernama) -- The health ministry has urged passengers on board of AirAsia X D7 2723 which arrived here from Melbourne, Australia, last Friday, to contact it immediately.

This follows the confirmation of Malaysia's seventh Influenza A (H1N1) case
Saturday, involving an Australian student who arrived at the Low Cost Carrier
Terminal (LCCT) in Sepang on board the flight.

Health director-general Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said all passengers in the
flight, especially those seated three lines from seat 31A (from front, back,
left and right) were urged to contact the ministry at 03-8881 0200 or 03-8881
0300 between 8am and 9pm.

"Until Saturday, no new case was reported. The total confirmed H1N1 cases
in the country remain at seven.

"Five of the cases reported on June 4, 5 and 6 are still under treatment but
in stable condition," he said in a statement here Sunday.

Dr Mohd Ismail said so far, 153 people who had contact with H1N1 victims,
were under home quarantine and in good health without any signs of infection.

He also urged Malaysian students abroad who were on summer holiday to
postpone their trip home if they showed symptoms of H1N1.

He said over the past 24 hours, the ministry had received notifications of
20 cases of Malaysian students who returned to the country with symptoms of
H1N1, admitted to four hospitals for investigation.

"From the 20 cases, 16 were tested negative and four were awaiting results,"
he said.

As at 8am Sunday, he said the World Health Organisation (WHO) had informed
that there were 30 new cases, bringing the total number of cases to 22,122 in 69
countries.

The new cases were reported in Australia (14 cases), Mainland China and Hong
Kong (six), Korea (five), Vietnam (four) and Malaysia (one).

The death toll, however, remained at 125.
