INFLUENZA A(H1N1) CASES REMAIN AT SEVEN



KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 (Bernama) -- The number of Influenza A(H1N1) cases
remains at seven, as there has been no new reported case.

Health director-general Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said, of the seven cases,
five were still undergoing treatment for antiviral in isolation wards.

Their condition was stable and there was no fever symptom.

Dr Mohd Ismail said that 193 people who were still under home quarantine
after they had contact with flu victims were in good health.

Meanwhile, the health ministry has urged all passengers of MAS flight MH091
which landed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on June 3 at 7.15am,
Airasia flight AK702 which landed at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) on
June 3 at 1pm and AirAsia X D7 2723 which landed at LCCT on June 5 at 7am, to
contact the ministry at 03-88810200 between 8am and 9pm.

Dr Mohd Ismail said that as of midnight, the ministry received notification
of 15 suspected cases nationwide after they returned from countries affected by
the flu virus.

The 15 were admitted to isolation wards of five hospitals nationwide for
treatment and investigation.

"Of the 15 notifications, seven tested negative for Influenza A(H1N1) while
the rest are waiting for their results," he said.

The number of accumulated cases under investigation for suspected cases of
Influenza A (H1N1) stands at 494 cases worldwide, with seven confirmed positive,
479 negative and eight under investigation.
