Seoul shares up 0.39 pct in late morning


SEOUL, June 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.39 percent higher late
Tuesday morning as institutions and foreign investors snapped up big caps,
analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 5.42 points to
1,398.72 as of 11:20 a.m.
Most large-cap shares traded in positive territory, with market bellwether
Samsung Electronics and financial shares leading the overall gain.
The Korean currency was trading at 1,256.45 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., down 4.05 won from Monday's close, as foreigners dumped the local currency,
dealers said.
