Tourism minister meets WTO Secretary General

Riyadh, Dec.1 (BNA) : Bahrain's Tourism Minister Fatima bint Jaffer Al Sairafi met with World Tourism Organisation (WTO) Secretary General, Zurab Pololikashvili, on the sidelines of her participation in World Travel & Tourism Council Global Summit.
The minister highlighted the tourism sector’s potentials that include infrastructure and major tourism projects and the goals of the 2022-2026 tourism strategy.
Al Sairafi discussed cooperation in providing practical training for some specializations in the tourism sector in the WTO regional office.
The role of the travel and tourism sector in the recovery of the global economy was discussed, in light of expectations that it will grow at twice the speed of the global economy over the next ten years, and the need to create a more comprehensive and sustainable basis for its expansion.
She highlighted increasing the role of the positive returns of this sector on communities, individuals and small and medium enterprises in particular.
The minister expressed the Kingdom’s keenness to cooperate with various international organizations concerned with tourism.
She also expressed the Ministry’s interest in participating in various regional and international events related to the development of the tourism sector.
