Smasung retains top spot in PC LCD monitor market worldwide

SEOUL, June 9 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co. of South Korea said Tuesday it
remained the global top seller of liquid-crystal display (LCD) monitors for
personal computers in the first quarter.

Samsung Electronics' market share stood at the No.1 position with 16.8 percent in
the January-March period, the company said quoting a report by the market
research firm IDC.
About 35.8 million units of monitors for personal computers were reported to have
been sold worldwide during the period, the company said.
It is the largest share the company has ever held, rising from 16.4 percent in
the last quarter.
