WCO Policy Commission concludes meeting in Bahrain

Dec.7 (BNA): The World Customs Organisation (WCO) Policy Commission today concluded its meeting, which convened in the kingdom of Bahrain for the first time in the region.
The Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa opened the session last Tuesday, in the presence of WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya.
Customs President, WCO Chair Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa chaired the closing meeting in the presence of the secretary general and members representing thirty countries.
The commission discussed key topics, including green customs, the evolution towards hybrid customs administrations, the WCO data strategy, fragile borders, illegal trade and the work of other international organizations and diversity.
It reviewed the strategic plan and activities that will be included in the implementation plan for the year 2023/2024, and the financial aspects of the organization in the coming years.
The panel also approved the theme for World Customs Day 2023 which will be observed under the slogan, entitled "Nurturing the Next Generation - Fostering a Culture of Knowledge Sharing and Professional Pride in Customs".
