Bahrain, Russia discuss diplomatic relations

Moscow, Dec. 21 (BNA): Bahraini Ambassador to Russia Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati participated in the Council of Arab Ambassadors meeting with the Vice-President of Russia Federal Council Konstantin Kosachev. The meeting reviewed the Arab-Russian relations in various fields and discussed political situation in the region. Al Saati highlighted the success of the parliamentary and municipal elections in Bahrain last month and the high turnout by voters that reached 73%, and stressed the importance of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. Al Saati also referred to the embrace of the Kingdom under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the presence of His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, and His Eminence the Grand Imam, Shaikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Shaikh of Al-Azhar Mosque, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Elders, attended the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue "East and West for Human Coexistence" during the period from 3-4 last November. Konstantin praised the Kingdom’s hosting of the 146th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in March 2023, referring to the participation of the Russian Federation in these meetings with a delegation representing the Federal Council and the State Duma.
