Bahrain attends OIC conference for heads of constitutional courts

istanbul, Dec.25 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain took part in the third conference of Constitutional Courts Presidents for countries members of the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation. Constitutional Court President Chancellor Abdulla bin Hassan Al Bouainain led Bahrain's delegation to the conference which was held on December 22-25 in Istanbul, Turkiye. The delegation also included Constitutional Court Deputy President Judge Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Mulla, Judge Ali Abdulla Al Duweishan and Coordination and Follow-up director Mondher Sami Al Jowder. A total of 132 participants representing thirty-four countries took part in the conference, including seven from Arab countries. Al Bouainain delivered a speech giving an overview of the history and development of judicial oversight over the constitutionality of laws and regulations in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He noted that that the history of the establishment of judicial oversight over the constitutionality of laws and regulations in the Kingdom dates back to the Constitution which was issued on December 6, 1973. He added that the law and the constitution have guaranteed to the members of the Constitutional Court the immunity of irremovability, in addition to all guarantees, privileges, rights and duties prescribed for the judges of the Court of Cassation, and made the general assembly of the court the competent authority to consider their private affairs.
