Bahraini-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee holds preparatory meeting

Manama, Jan. 5 (BNA): The Joint Ministerial Committee between Bahrain and Jordan held its preparatory meeting for the fifth session of the Joint Higher Committee, co-chaired by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the Jordanian Prime Minister and Defense Minister Dr. Bisher Hani Al Khasawneh. Bahrain’s delegtion was headed by the Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, while Jordan’s delegation was headed by the Industry, Trade and Supply Minister and Labor Minister Youssef Al Shamali. Al Zayani briefed the meeting on the continuous keenness to consolidate bilateral relations, under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Jordanian King His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein. He praised the efforts exerted to develop relations and affirmed the joint keenness to expand cooperation in various fields. Al Shamali praised the relations between the two countries and noted the importance of convening the Bahraini-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee and the opportunity it provides for developing relations. He said that the two countries always agreed on their positions on a number of issues, especially the Palestinian issue, and have always called for a two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He added that Jordan has always appreciated Bahrain's position on the Hashemite Kingdom guardianship over Islamic and Christian sanctities in Palestine. The Jordanian minister noted the inauguration of the Bahraini-Jordanian Businessmen Forum at the Bahrain Chamber and stressed the need to expand cooperation in various economic, commercial and investment fields in order to achieve the goals of the Joint Higher Committee headed by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the Jordanian Prime Minister and Defense Minister.
