By Koh Byung-joon
SEOUL, June 11 (Yonhap) -- Globally renowned economic leaders and academics will
gather in Seoul this month to exchange opinions on how to tackle the worldwide
economic and financial crisis, officials here said Thursday.

The Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics will kick off on June 22 for
a three-day run in central Seoul, according to the Ministry of Strategy and
Finance.
The conference, the 20th of its kind, will be held under the title of "Lessons
from East Asia and the Global Financial Crisis" for this year, said the ministry,
which organizes the gathering in cooperation with the World Bank.
Participants include Justin Yifu Lin, World Bank chief economist and senior vice
president, Anne Krueger, first deputy managing director of the International
Monetary Fund, and other renowned scholars and economic experts.
The ministry expects the conference will provide a chance for South Korea to
share its experience overcoming the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s and
to strengthen partnerships and economic cooperation with the international
community.
