Foreign Minister meets UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

Geneva, Mar.1 (BNA): Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani today met United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva,    Volker Türk,

The meeting was on the sidelines of the High Level Segment - 52nd regular session of the Human Rights Council, being held in Geneva, Switzerland.

Dr. Alzayani commended constructive cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and United Nations High Commission for Human Rights.

He affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to protecting human rights as a top priority, outlining the Kingdom’s strides in this regard in light of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

During the meeting, the UN official noted the level of cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights.

The meeting was attended by Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Dr. Abdulkarim Bucheeri, Foreign Ministry Director General Ambassador Talal Abdulsalam Al Ansari and the accompanying delegation.
