Unni Menon Adds On To Indian Music Concert Fever In Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- Indian film playback singer, Unni Menon, will add on to the Indian music concert fever in Malaysia this month by performing for the very first time some of the unplugged version of his songs. 

The four-hour concert themed ''Unni Menon Rocks 1.0 Live Concert In Kuala Lumpur" will be held at Shantanand Auditorium, Temple of Fine Arts, Brickfields here starting at 7 pm on March 19.

The 67-year-old singer, who has worked with many prominent music directors from India including Oscar-winning Indian music composer AR Rahman, will render some of his 20 notable songs catering to all age group in Malaysia.

"The concert is unique as for the first time in Malaysia, a concert is being held mainly dedicated to Unni Menon’s songs.

"Apart from that, through this concert, the magic of late Indian playback singer Shahul Hameed's voice will be poignantly re-created by his brother Shamsuddin with some of his hits under the composition of AR Rahman," director of MNESS Productions, Dr Muniswaran Sivanathan, the concert organiser told Bernama. 

Apart from Unni Menon, Vijay TV Super singers “Roshini” and “Reshma” together with other playback singers will join the performance accompanied by Live Orchestra. 

Unni Menon has recorded over 4,000 songs in many Indian languages including Tamil, Malayalam  Telugu and Kannada, and his notable songs are “Puthu Vellai Mazhai” from the film Roja in 1992 and “Thimthanana Thimthanana” from the film Rhythm in 2000. 

Dr Muniswaran said the 618-audience capacity Shantanand Auditorium, the concert venue, will enable audience to watch the concert in a closer range regardless of which ticket zone they have purchased while helping them to avoid the hassle of queueing to enter the hall.

The concert will be hosted by Rj Teresa Lazaro and Rj Gokul Kogul from Malaysian Radio Channels and the gate will open as early as 5 pm.
